The Slender-Tailed Cloud Rat, Southern Luzon Giant Cloud Rat, Cloudrunner Rat or Phloeomys pallidus are a group of arboreal and folivorous nocturnal rodents native to the forests of the Philippines. There are six known species of true cloud rat, and two dwarf cloud rat species.

Slender-Tailed Cloud rat or Phloeomys pallidus are slow-moving herbivores and are thought to be preyed upon by large birds such as the Philippine eagle. The Slender-Tailed Cloud rats or Phloeomys are quite large, and they have been hunted by people in the Philippines for their meat, driving the rodents to near extinction.

Phloeomys cumingi from the Philippine Islands their elevational range extends from sea level to the high mountains of northwestern Luzon.

Slender-Tailed Cloud rat or Phloeomys pallidus is a very large rodent that weighs 4.2 to 5.7 lbs. and is 29.5 to 30.5 ins. long, including its tail.

The color of its relatively long pelage, which also covers the tail, is highly variable, but usually it is mostly very pale brown-grey or white with some dark brown or black patches. They often have a black mask and collar, but can also be entirely white.

Slender-Tailed Cloud rat or Phloeomys pallidus is only found in northern and central part of Luzon, the Philippines. It is found in at least 12 provinces. The northern Luzon giant cloud rat prefers forest and scrub, but also occurs in degraded habitats such as plantations.

It occurs from sea level to an altitude of about 7,200 feet. In some areas it overlaps with the rarer giant bushy-tailed cloud rat, but that species mainly occurs at higher altitudes than the Slender-Tailed Cloud rat or Phloeomys pallidus.
