Bahariasaurus was a giant, meat-eating dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period in North America and Africa. It grew to a massive size. It reached about 36 to 40 feet in length and weighed around 4 tons. This size put the beast in the same size range as the famous Tyrannosaurus rex.
A scientist named Ernst Stromer found the only known bones of this animal. He dug them up in the Bahariya Formation, a desert oasis area located in Egypt. Tragically, these rare fossils no longer exist today. A World War II bombing raid completely destroyed the museum housing them. The very same attack also wiped out the original bones of Spinosaurus and Aegyptosaurus.
