Chasmosaurus was a medium-sized ceratopsid that lived alongside other famous horned dinosaurs. Gregory S. Paul estimated the length of C. belli at 4.8 meters while assigning a weight of two tons. The related C. russelli reached 4.3 meters in length and weighed 1.5 tons.
Known differences between these two species mainly involve the specific horn and frill shapes. Both carried three facial horns including one on the nose and two on the brow. These features remained quite short on both species compared to their larger relatives.
The elongated frill of Chasmosaurus grew broader at the rear since it sat nearly level with the snout. The C. belli specimen features straight sides and a distinct V-shaped rear edge. Our replicas match every anatomical detail found in the fossil record.
