Description
Dapedium punctatus fossil replica measures 16.8 inches long. The Dapedium Punctatus is a museum-quality polyurethane resin cast. 1:1 scale. Made in USA. Lias, Holzmaden-Terk, Germany. Found by Dr. B JHauff Wurttemburg.
The various dapedium fish species grew from nine to forty centimeters long with round bodies. The tough skin had a full covering of thick, diamond-shaped scales. The small dapedium noricum stands as the tiniest species found so far. Hard bony plates fully armored the skull of dapedium.
These skull bones had many rough, bumpy lumps on the surface. The small front fins worked directly with the wide back fins. This short, heavy tail gave the dapedium power for quick turns. The upper jaw of the dapedium moved outward to catch big prey.

The Dapedium punctatus fossil replica offers a clean starting point for building a Jurassic fish collection. The round, diamond-shaped scales of this dapedium contrast sharply with a flat diplomystus dentatus fish plaque replica. Try comparing these bumpy dapedium skull plates right against the tiny, fine scales of the knightia humilis fish replica. This dapedium cast looks incredibly distinct, positioned next to a massive, fanged dunkleosteus terrelli fish jaw replica.
