Description
Giganotosaurus carolinii skull replica measures 8.25 x 3.4 x 5.5 inches. The Giganotosaurus carolinii skull is a museum-quality polyurethane resin cast. 2-part skull (separate cranium and mandible). 1:9 scale. Made in USA.
Giganotosaurs carolinni lived in Argentina during the early Cenomanian age of the Late Cretaceous. This massive theropod dinosaur walked the earth approximately 98 to 97 million years ago. Its name translates to “giant southern lizard,” while the specific name honors Rubén D. Carolini. Carolini discovered the holotype specimen within the Candeleros Formation of Patagonia in 1993.
This initial find remains impressive because it is nearly 70 percent complete. Paleontologist officially named the creature in 1995 after studying the remains. Before this major discovery, researchers found a dentary bone, a tooth, and several tracks in the region.
Scientists later assigned these separate pieces to the same genus. Today, the Giganotosaurus remains a vital part of our understanding of South American prehistoric life.

Pair this Giganotosaurs skull with the Tyrannosarus rex skull replica and the Abelisaurus skull replica to compare the massive carnivores of the Cretaecous. While the giant southern lizard featured shark-like teeth, the tyrant king possessed robust bone-crushing jaws from a different northern territory. You can further improve your project by adding the Giganotosaurus tooth replica to your exhibit. These scaled models exhibit diverse physical weapons used by top-tier hunters across various continents during the age of dinosaurs.
