Jackson’s water mongoose is native to montane forests in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
They feed on rodents and insects such as caterpillars, weevils, millipedes and army ants. The rodents they hunt are rats, mice, birds and bird eggs. These animals are mostly nocturnal. They are a solitary animal that is active during the night and at twilight.
Their long dense fur is grizzled black and white. They have a dense and woolly undercoat. Their cheeks, throat, sides of the neck are yellowish in color. They have a grizzled grey crown and their muzzle is blunt.
