Mosasaurus hoffmannii was a carnivore. It lived in the Cretaceous period and inhabited Europe and North America. Its fossils have been found in places such as South Carolina, South Dakota and Alabama.

The Mosasaurus hoffmannii was an enormous aquatic lizard of the late Cretaceous, dwelling in what would become the North Atlantic. Cretaceous Period 145.5 million to 65.5 million years ago. Found in the Meuse river where the first fossil specimen was discovered.

The skull of Mosasaurus hoffmannii tapered off into a short, conical tip. The jaws were armed with massive conical teeth. Their paddle-like limbs had five digits in front and four in back.

The body ended in a strong tail, which other mosasaurid fossils suggest had a fluke similar to those of sharks and some ichthyosaurs. The body of Mosasaurus hoffmannii probably remained stiff to reduce drag through the water, while the end of the tail provided strong propulsion.
