Description
Triceratops horn single brow replica is 22.0 in long. Triceratops horridus is a museum-quality polyurethane resin cast of a CAS specimen. 1:1. Made in USA.
This dinosaur horn fossil replica comes from the massive three-horned plant eater of the late Cretaceous. These creatures lived in North America roughly 67 to 65 million years ago.
The Triceratops had a large skull relative to its body size. The front of the head featured a high toothless beak. Specifically, a special rostral bone formed the core of this top beak. Behind it, the premaxillae bones sat within very large, circular nostrils.
Triceratops differs from its relatives because this process was hollowed out on the outer side. The maxilla behind the beak held thirty-six to forty tooth positions. In addition, each position contained three to five vertically stacked teeth.
These teeth were closely pressed together to form a “dental battery” that curved inward. The skull also featured a single horn on the snout, just above the nostrils.
The nose horn is sometimes seen as a separate bone called the epinasal. Furthermore, the skull featured a pair of brow horns about 1 meter long, with one located above each eye.
