Vigilus wellesi is an extinct genus of prehistoric amphibian. They lived in Arizona during the Triassic period.

The genus contains only one known species. Scientists call this single species Vigilius wellesi.

The main fossil of  Vigilius wellesi consists of a skull labeled UCMP 36199. Collectors found this skull in an area next to Arizona State Route 64. The discovery site overlooks the Grand Canyon. The fossil came from a layer of the Early Triassic Moenkopi Formation.

Paleontologists Samual Paul Welles and Richard Estes described the skull in 1969. They first grouped it under a different brachyopid genus and species called Hadrokkosaurus bradyi.
