Description
Risso’s gray dolphin skull replica measures 22.0 x 15.0 x 11.0 inches. The Grampus griseus skull is a museum-quality polyurethane resin cast of a California Academy of Sciences specimen. 2-part skull (separate cranium and mandible). 1:1 scale. Made in USA.
The Risso’s gray dolphin is the only species in its genus. Taiwanese fisherman commonly call this marine mamma the monk dolphin. The animal features a large front body and a tall fin. Its body then tapers down to a narrow tail.
This dolphin has a unique, bulbous head with a vertical crease right in front. It typically grows ten feet long, but some specimens reach over thirteen feet. It weighs between 660 and 1,000 pounds, making it the largest species with the dolphin name. Males are usually slightly larger than females.
Unusually heavy linear scars eventually cover most of the body. These markings come from social interactions with other dolphins. Because of this scarring, older individuals look almost entirely white.
Most animals have only two to seven pairs of teeth, and they sit only in the lower jaw. These dolphins breed and give birth all year round. The mothers carry their young for 13 to 14 months and nurse them for up to 18 months.
This species lives worldwide in deep temperate and tropical waters close to land. They inhabit the Indian, Pacific, and Atlantic Oceans. You can also find them in the Persian Gulf, the Mediterranean Sea, and the Red Sea.
They travel as far north as Alaska and Greenland and go south to Tierra del Fuego. The prefer steep banks just off the continental shelf in waters up to 3,000 feet deep. They feed almost exclusively on different types of squid.

Rowdy, Risso’s gray dolphin skull replica, just bought his first Harley Davidson motorcycle. He is stoked and passed his motorcylce test. He’s on his way to impress all the single ladies at the fourth of July rally. He is looking very sexy on his new shiny bike.
Lurch, the long-beaked common dolphin skull replica, nudged Paula and nodded towards Rowdy so she would notice him. Rowdy is a hunk of a hunk man on that beautiful Harley. He wants Paula to find a nice guy.
Paula, the La Plata dolphin skull replica, about passed out just looking at Rowdy. He definitely took her breath away and he knows it too.
Rowdy, the rough-toothed female dolphin skull replica, bought an extra seat just for Paula to join him touring all across Northern California.
