Patas monkeys live in dry, open woodlands across many parts of central, western, and eastern Africa. Their native geographic range stretches across these specific regions of the African continent.

People introduced them to Puerto Rico, where they act as an invasive species. They live in multi-female groups of up to 60 individuals, though much larger groups occur. The group contains just one adult male for most of the year.

Patas monkeys are large, slender primates with a distinct lanky appearance that resembles a greyhound dog. They are built for speed and are often called the cheetahs of the primate world.

Males have the longest canine teeth of all the African long-tailed monkeys. The size of their canines helps establish a pecking order among males.

Reaching speeds of 34 miles per hour, this animal is the faster runner among primates. Their life span in the wild reaches up to about 20 years. These primates have the longest daily travel distances and the largest home ranges for their body size. The adult female group initiate all movement while the male follows their lead.

Diet of the patas monkeys, which are omnivores includes insects, gum, seeds, fruits, leaves, bird eggs, thorns, galls, grass, tamarind beans, bulbs, tubers, roots, flowers, prickly pear cactus, small lizards, caterpillars, beetles and ants.

Patrick, the patas monkey skull is painting his house red, white and blue to celebrate the Fourth of July. He is putting on an enormous firework display for the entire neighborhood.

He has asked his best friend Rudy, the red-eared monkey skull replica to set up the fireworks in the field. Rudy thought it would be fun to test a few out prior to the show to make sure there are not any duds. Unfortunately, it started a fire in the field and the barn went up in smoke.

Alarmed, Patrick called Sam, the siamang gibbon male monkey skull replica to put the fire out.

Nick, the three-striped night monkey skull replica is very handy and quickly rebuilt the barn.

Patrick’s Fourth of July party was a blast for everyone!

International Monkey Day - December 14th

International Monkey Day has been created to celebrate monkeys on December 14th, as well as “all things simian,” which includes lemurs, tarsiers, apes, and other non-human primates. It is a great day when it comes to raising awareness about different types of monkeys and primates around the world, as well as the issues they face and how we can help them.
