Dall’s porpoise or Phocoenoides dalli is a species of porpoise endemic to the North Pacific. It is the largest of porpoises and the only member of the genus Phocoenoides. The species is named after American naturalist W. H. Dall.
The Dall’s porpoise is the largest porpoise species on Earth. It lives only in the cold waters of the North Pacific Ocean. This animal grows up to 7.5 feet long and weighs between 370 and 490 pounds. American naturalist W.H. Dall gave this species its name.
It features a wide, robust body and a tiny head. Its flippers sit near the front of the body, and its triangular fin sits mid-body.
Most of the body has black skin. White or grey patches cover its sides and belly. The species includes two distinct color types. The dalli-type lives across the North Pacific. The truei-type lives only in the western Pacific. The truei-type has a longer white belly patch that extends farther forward.
They hunt close to the surface and in mid-water areas. It eats a large variety of prey. It mostly catches squid and small fish. Common prey are myctophids and gonatid squid.

Becky, the short-beaked common dolphin skull replica, is at the bar ordering a pitcher of beer for the evening.
Tammy, the tucuxi dolphin skull replica, brought her own set of darts in a shiny case. She practices at home every night and can’t wait to show off her improved dart throwing skills.
