Description
Walrus tusk pair replicas measure 32.0 inches. Odobenus rosmarus tusk is museum-quality polyurethane resin cast from a private collector specimen. 1:1 scale. Made in USA. Base diameter is 3.5 inches. Height: 9.0 ins. (The “rise” of the curve).
Unlike other bone, walrus tusks contain a unique “marbled” core known as secondary dentine or osteodentine. These modified upper canine teeth grow throughout the animal’s life, lacking the enamel coating found on most mammal teeth. While these help bulls establishe social rank; they also function as sensory tools and ice picks for climbing.

Museum exhibits come alive with this matched pair being set beside a babirusa skull replica that shows the strange, circular growth of teeth found in Indonesian swine. Adding the giant forest hog skull cast just tops it off with a breathtaking whoa look at that, due to the broad, flared bone structure of the largest wild pig on the African continent.
The hippopotamus left canine tooth model knocks this display to another dimension with its scythe-like weapons used by this massive and aggressive river giant.
